At the entrance of the Zugspitz-village Grainau, located on a hill, you will find our house with a unique panoramic view of the Wetterstein-massif with the two Waxenstein, Alpspitze and Zugspitze.

As a small family-run hotel we attach great importance to an informal, comfortable and above all personal ambience. The simple but comfortable and clean rooms all have a balcony and are equipped with private bathroom (shower WC) and cable TV. There is ample on-site parking and fast Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. In our in-house restaurant you eat home-style and in the morning we expect you with delicious coffee and a very extensive breakfast buffet.

With us you can enjoy a holiday without a car. Line and special buses leave directly in front of the hotel, the train-station Untergrainau is 200m away, many hiking trails starts with us and in winter cross-country trails are very close. Rafting enthusiasts have the perfect access to the river Loisach 200m away. With the free Snow-Xpress in the winter months and our guest card you can easily reach the ski lifts around the Zugspitze area. Nützliche Informationen zu ihrem Aufenthalt

Am Anreisetag stehen Ihnen die Zimmer in der Regel ab 15 Uhr zur Verfügung. Da unsere Rezeption nicht immer durchgehend besetzt ist, bitten wir Sie, uns bei Anreise später als 17 Uhr telefonisch oder per E-Mail zu kontaktieren. Wir hinterlegen in diesem Falle ihren Zimmerschlüssel im Schlüsselsafe und teilen Ihnen entsprechend Ihren PIN Code mit.


Early Check-in
Je nach Verfügbarkeit können Sie Ihr Zimmer gerne auch früher kostenlos beziehen. In diesem Fall steht Ihnen auch ab 7:30 unser umfangreiches Frühstücksbüffet zur Verfügung. Dieses könne Sie am Anreisetag für 8€ pro Person in Anspruch nehmen.

Online Check-in
Bitte nutzen die Möglichkeit, bei uns online einzuchecken. Sie reduzieren damit komplett das Ausfüllen der Anmeldeformulare, finden Ihre Kurkarten bereits ausgedruckt vor und können direkt Ihren Urlaub bei uns beginnen. Eine entsprechende email erhalten Sie einige Tage vor Reiseantritt  von uns zugesandt.

Am Abreisetag bitten wir Sie, Ihr Zimmer bis 11 Uhr vollständig zu räumen. 

Late Check-out
Sollten Sie eine spätere Abreise wünschen, so bitten wir Sie, uns entsprechend vorher zu informieren. Je nach Verfügbarkeit berechnen wir bei Abreise bis 16 Uhr pro angefangene Stunde 10€, ab 16 Uhr werden 100% des aktuellen Tagespreises Ihres Zimmers fällig.

Die örtliche Kurtaxe wird separat berechnet und beträgt für Erwachsene 2,50€ pro Übernachtung (2,80€ ab 01.01.2019) und für Kinder von 6-15 Jahren 1€ pro Übernachtung und ist bei Anreise in bar zu begleichen. Die Kinder bis zu 6 Jahren sind frei.

Die angegebenen Preise beinhalten immer unser reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet, die kostenlose Nutzung unseres W-LAN im gesamten Haus, einen kostenlosen Parkplatz soweit verfügbar (Reservierungen sind nicht möglich) sowie die Nutzung unserer einmaligen Panoramaterrasse.

Shuttle Service
Auf Wunsch bieten wir unseren Gästen bis 6 Personen kostenfreie Transfers nach Garmisch-Partenkirchen an. Ausflüge in die Umgebung bzw. Flughafentransfers bieten wir nach individueller Absprache mit Ihnen an.

Breakfast in the GUNGLSTUBN

Breakfast is available daily from 7:30 to 10:00. With a rich selection of many regional specialties, you are guaranteed to start your day stronger.

Some information about our breakfast buffet:

  • Our sausage comes from two regional butcher shops of our trust.
  • Fruits, vegetables and eggs are supplied by the farms in the neighborhood.
  • The breads are still handmade by bakeries of the surrounding villages.
  • The coffee comes from Segafredo from Italy
  • The tea specialties are sourced from England by Brodies




Summer activities around the GUNGLSTUBN

The stunningly beautiful landscape of Grainau offers numerous opportunities to do sports in spring, summer and autumn.

Overall, the hiking-trails around our hotel include more than 100km of well-maintained trails. Challenging you go on the walk to the Zugspitze or calmer you can explore the famous Partnachklamm. Or experience our panorama mountain, the Wank! Take your time and enjoy the wonderful view into the Loisach-valley.

Cycling & mountain biking
Especially when cycling the Zugspitze area holds the right tour for every cyclist's heart. Many tours can be found here. For renting classic or e-bikes, just contact us.

Rafting & Canyoning
Water enthusiasts will find the perfect access to the Loisach 200m away from our hotel. One provider is for example the Wildwasserschule Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

High Rope Garden:
A visit to the Garmisch “Garmischer Hochseilgarten” is always an exciting experience for enthusiastic families and groups to swing from the ropes.

Bathing & Swimming:
Pack your swimming things and go with your loved ones to one of the many lakes in the area. Do you prefer a moorland or crystal clear lake? Whatever you decide, Eibsee, Riessersee, Geroldsee, Grubsee, Walchensee, Kochelsee, Plansee or Staffelsee, all have one thing in common: First water quality! Natural surroundings are of course included.

Climbing & Freeclimbing:
Numerous climbing opportunities are available in our valley. If you wish to have a guide, we will be pleased to arrange one for you.

Freeclimbers will love the Herrgottschrofen in Grainau an der Loisach. Here you can find safe routes. There are also a few more challenging routes on the federal highway between Oberau and Eschenlohe.

In the vicinity of our hotel there are several golf courses. All of them are absolutely charming in their unique way and here we give you a small selection:

- Golf Club Werdenfels: 9-hole course with narrow fairways. Approx seven kilometers away from the hotel.

- Oberau Golf Course: 18-hole golf course, fulfilling the most ambitious requirements. Here when you play, you have superb views of the Wettersteingebirge.

- Karwendel Golf Course in Wallgau: 9-hole course. Here the course is wonderfully natural and fits perfectly into Isar valley and the adjacent mountain pasturelands. It is so easy here, to feel absolutely at one with nature.

- Golf Course Seefeld in Tirol: Definitely one of the most beautiful but at the same time also a challenging 18-hole course in the Alps.

The miniature golf course is located in the Kurpark at Grainau and offers the opportunity for lots of fun for children and their parents.

Winter activities around the GUNGLSTUBN

Downhill skiing
The area Garmisch-Partenkirchen has a total of five ski areas with over 40 lifts and Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze, offers from November to late May, a perfect snow fun. At almost 3,000 m altitude, ten ski lifts offer 23 km of groomed slopes.

The area between Hausberg, Kreuzeck and Alpspitze is the largest connected ski area in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with more than 20 cable cars and ski lifts. Incidentally, you will also find the world-famous Kandahar track, where the downhill World Cup stops every year. This is considered one of the five heaviest routes in the world.

Cross-country skiing
In the area Garmisch-Partenkirchen you will find a wide network on connected trails. The start in Grainau is just a stone's throw away from the hotel. Start in the peace and space of the tempting snow world right at the foot of the Zugspitze.

Toboggan runs offers the region in large numbers and of course we advise you at any time about the possibility to lend sledges.

Ice scating
You can ice skate almost all year round at the Garmisch Olympia Ice Rink, as the skating rink is open from July to April. In winter, the natural track in Grainau offers a great ice rink. A particularly nice experience is ice skating on one of the frozen mountain lakes, such as the Eibsee or the Riessersee.

Snow shoe tracking
If you like to walk, strap on the snowshoes and walk over the untouched snowfields. The snowshoeing, which goes back to a long tradition, is also ideal for beginners and children over 10 years. In avalanche-safe terrain and 2 great tours of different difficulty, the fun is great for young and old.

Ice climbing
Climbing in icy heights offers a lot of variety for experimentation-seeking and variety-seeking athletes. You have a good fitness and have experience in mountaineering? Then ice climbing could be just the thing for you!

Attractions around Grainau

The area around Grainau fascinates with its eclectic landscape, which offers many year-round recreational activities in a particularly healthy air, beautiful cities with a long history and numerous attractions such as the royal castles and churches. Whether a hike through the Höllental-gorge or the Partnach-gorge, a sightseeing tour of Neuschwanstein Castle, a family day on the Eibsee or the view from Germany's highest peak of the Zugspitze, the immediate surroundings of Grainau offer not only the imposing mountains but also many sights.
